The enclosure is made of metal material with a certain weight and rigidity. It is usually made of 2~3 millimeter thick steel plate with a damping layer. The damping layer is often used as the fiber fabric or fiber material soaked by the asphalt damped glue (using the bitumen dipped linen cloth, glass cloth, felt or stone cotton wool, etc.), and some specially made damped pulp.    

The outer damping layer is used to avoid the effect of the plate and the low-frequency resonance of the plate. The shell can also be made of wood or plastic panels, and the light sound insulation structure can be made of aluminum plates. The high noise insulation cover can be made into double shell, and the inner layer is thinner than the outer layer. The spacing between the two layers is generally 6~10 centimeters, which is filled with porous sound absorbing material. The inner side of the cover is added with sound absorbing material to absorb sound and weaken the noise in the cavity. On the sound absorbing material, a perforated guard plate is covered with a perforated area, which accounts for 20 to 30% of the surface area.            

Rubber pads are usually filled between the hood and the machine, the hood and the foundation to prevent the transmission of vibration. Valve and observation hole that can be opened should be sealed well. For equipment that needs heat dissipation, there should be necessary ventilation pipes on the sound insulation cover. The pipeline should have silencers or mufflers. When designing the sound insulation hood, we should pay attention to meeting the requirements of technology and maintenance, and sometimes we should take measures to prevent oil pollution, dust and corrosion.
